The Americans, French, and particularly the Russians all had some pretty cool enhanced derivatives of these designed largely by German engineers continuing their work from Peenemunde. I might come back to these at some point to fine tune them and add different models. I had to get a little creative with those two but I think that they fall pretty close to their designed parameters. The A12 was mainly guesswork, and you can see on Austronautix that it would have either required 50 of the aforementioned engines or an even newer engine design. But it does deliver the intended 300 kilograms to orbit. Specifications were not exactly fully fleshed out and the proposed engine(s) did not exist. The A11 is where things get a little wonky though I tried to remain faithful. In hindsight I definitely could have reached the planned 5,000 km had I followed the proposed ascent profile (mine was too shallow), and could have made it to the ground had I separated the warhead. The A10 is pretty close as well, though there were multiple variations of the design. The V-2 is very close to the original, though it was very tough to balance it (I actually had to lower the engine efficiency to make it meet it's specs). I pulled a lot of the specifications off of Astronautix to make them as realistic as possible. However, given the extremely limited resources and knowledge of the time they are pretty sound. Ultimately the takeaway that I got is that the designs that they committed to paper would have required some serious revisions because they didn't take into account a lot of factors that weren't explored until the 50s and were generally horribly inefficient. I've always been fascinated by the Aggregate Program ( (rocket_family) ) and the visions that they had for it, so I decided to construct a few of them based off their planned designs.
